The Summit Shack began in mid-2017 when a group of friends got together to form an artist’s collective in Bowling Green, Ohio. Seeking a network of creatives to support each other’s work, the idea was launched under the name Same Co.
After a few months in operation, the group’s focus shifted to putting on DIY concerts, using a garage facing Summit street as the venue. A large following grew around these shows, as well as local enthusiasm for more frequent and diverse types of events. With support from fans and friends of the venue, combined with months of logistical planning, the Summit Shack was born.
The venue itself has hosted hundreds of DIY music and comedy shows, featuring talent from all over the midwest and beyond. Emboldened and humbled by this success, the Summit Shack has expanded even more, serving as a booking platform for bands as well as a resource for midwestern artists of all types looking to connect and create.
This collaborative spirit has culminated in an annual music festival called Fauxchella, which has gotten bigger each year since its inception. It is promoted and organized by BG locals, and performers have included bands and comics from all over. The most recent fest, Fauxchella III, saw over 800 people in attendance. Fauxchella also raises money in the form of donations and raffle entries, all of which goes to the bands that perform.
The amount of local support for the Summit Shack is directly correlated to its success. The Summit Shack has no plans to stop growing, and we’re committed to mindfully evolving while staying true to our original mission: to empower and connect local artistic talent.
